How To Clean a 9mm Smith Wesson
Gun safety and maintenance are two essential elements that go hand in hand with gun ownership.
Fortunately learning how to clean a 9mm smith wesson sw9ve is pretty simple and straight forward.
How To Clean A 9mm Smith Wesson: What you will need to get the job done.
1.Gun Solvent
You will need this for the hard to remove and sometimes burned on gun powder residue.
2.Gun oil
After you have cleaned your gun, you will want to be certain that all its parts are lubricated to ensure proper operation.
3. Gun Cleaning patches and Gun Cleaning rod
The gun cleaning rod and gun cleaning patches are an essential piece for cleaning the barrel.
The first step when cleaning a weapon is to make sure that it is unloaded and safe. To do this on the smith wesson sw9ve simply remove the magazine and pull the slide to the rear while looking into the chamber.
Once this critical step is completed you can then move on to disassembling or field stripping the gun.
The Smith Wesson sw9ve sigma is easily taken apart without the aid of any tools.
Hold the grip of the gun with one hand while pulling the slide back about half way.
Hold the slide in place with your four fingers, then pull down on the take down catch.
Allow the slide to move forward. Pull the trigger and the slide is ready to be removed from the frame. From this point you can remove the barrel and the buffer spring.
Now that the weapon is field stripped, it is ready to be cleaned.
Use the tools listed above to thoroughly clean your gun while also examining its parts for any hints of premature wear and tear. These signs may a be an implication of problems to come in the future.
I usually like to start off by cleaning the barrel. To do this use solvent, cleaning patches and the cleaning rod to remove all visible debris from inside and around the barrel.
Attach a cleaning patch to the cleaning rod, squirt a small amount of solvent onto the patch then push it through the barrel. Do this until it is completely clean. Hold the barrel up toward a light and look through it to ensure its cleanliness.
I have included a link to a PDF file of the Sigma users guide. It will help you get familiar with the parts of the weapon and further your understanding of how to clean a 9mm smith wesson.

No. You do need to hold hold the firearm upside down in order to field strip it. You can do everything with the weapon right side up.
